It does feels rather sinful to award Roald Dahl three stars, three days after his Birthday, but I must say that Tales of the Unexpected was a bit of a slog. I had high hopes for this collection of short stories because I adored Dahl as a child and I imagined that Tales of the Unexpected would be a welcomed step up in style and themes, like taking the stabilisers off a beloved bicycle.
